Concrete Cutting for Renovation & Remodeling
Cutting, drilling, and selective demolition for renovation projects — a concrete cutting partner who understands remodeling timelines and workflows
Concrete Cutting Services for Renovation Specialists
Renovation and remodeling projects are where concrete cutting complexity peaks. You are not working with blank slabs and new construction. You are modifying existing structures with unknown reinforcement, hidden utilities, finished surfaces that must be protected, and homeowners or tenants who are living through the construction. REDCORE partners with renovation specialists throughout Massachusetts to provide the concrete cutting, core drilling, wall sawing, and selective demolition that remodeling projects require, with the care and precision that existing buildings demand.
Renovation projects bring a wide variety of concrete cutting needs. A kitchen remodel may require slab cutting for relocated drain lines and core drilling for a new gas line penetration. A basement finishing project may need egress window openings, bathroom rough-in trenches, and waterproofing drain channels. A commercial renovation may call for new door openings through concrete walls, removal of existing concrete partitions, and dozens of new mechanical penetrations through floors and walls. REDCORE handles all of these needs with equipment and techniques suited to working in and around occupied, finished, and partially demolished spaces.
What renovation specialists appreciate most about REDCORE is our understanding of remodeling workflows. We know that renovation projects change constantly, that access can be difficult, that protection of existing finishes is critical, and that scheduling flexibility is essential when other trades are running behind or ahead. We adapt to the realities of renovation work and deliver reliable concrete cutting that keeps your remodeling project moving forward throughout the Massachusetts area.

Why Renovation Specialists Choose REDCORE
We Understand Renovation Complexity
Cutting in an existing building is different from cutting in new construction. Hidden utilities, unknown reinforcement, existing finishes, and occupied spaces all require experience and care that REDCORE provides.
Utility Scanning Before Cutting
Renovation projects have the highest risk of encountering hidden utilities. We offer GPR scanning and other detection methods to locate embedded rebar, conduit, plumbing, and post-tension cables before any blade touches the concrete.
Flexible Scheduling for Renovation Timelines
Renovation projects rarely follow the original schedule. REDCORE adapts to your project's changing timeline, rescheduling when other trades fall behind and accelerating when opportunities open up.
Full-Service Capability in One Mobilization
A renovation project may need slab cutting, core drilling, wall sawing, and selective demolition across different phases. REDCORE provides all of these services, reducing the number of subcontractors you need to coordinate.

Frequently Asked Questions — Concrete Cutting for Renovation Specialists
How do you avoid hitting hidden utilities when cutting in an existing building?
Before cutting into any existing slab or wall, we discuss the building's history and known utility locations with you. For higher-risk cuts — older buildings, unknown layouts, or areas near mechanical rooms — we use ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to scan the concrete and identify rebar, conduit, plumbing, post-tension cables, and other embedded objects before any blade touches the surface.
Can you cut new openings in existing concrete walls without damaging the surrounding structure?
Yes. Our wall saws produce clean, precise cuts that stop exactly where specified. Unlike jackhammers, diamond wall saws do not cause micro-fractures or vibration damage to the surrounding concrete. This is critical in renovation work where the remaining wall structure must stay intact, especially in load-bearing walls where we cut the opening and your structural engineer's beam header goes in immediately after.
Do you handle both the cutting and the debris removal on renovation projects?
We always remove the cut concrete from the immediate work area. For slab cuts, we pull the cut sections out of the trench. For wall openings, we section the cutout into manageable pieces and remove them from the opening. Full hauling and disposal of concrete debris can be included in your quote if needed, or your general contractor may handle disposal with their dumpster.
How do you protect finished surfaces when cutting in a partially renovated space?
We lay ram board or heavy-duty plastic sheeting on finished floors within 8 to 10 feet of the cutting area. Walls and cabinetry near the cut line get taped plastic protection. We use wet cutting to keep dust down and set up containment barriers at doorways to prevent dust migration into completed areas of the building. Our goal is to leave the finished spaces exactly as we found them.
